WikiLeaks Release Will Strain Ties
In an unprecedented move, Washington has informed the Canadian government that WikiLeaks, the website that’s become infamous for releasing secret documents, is about to release sensitive American diplomatic files that may seriously strain their relationships with foreign nations.
They say that the documents may include transcripts and records of conversations between diplomats, dissidents and friendly politicians and could potentially result in the expulsion of U.S. diplomats from foreign positions.
A spokesman with Canadian Foreign Affairs has stated that Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon has been contacted by the U.S. ambassador to Canada, David Jacobson, and other U.S. diplomats around the world have already begun notifying other governments that documents about to be released will probably result in a serious erosion of trust of the United States as a diplomatic partner.
WikiLeaks may release the documents as soon as within the next few days.
